Brian Stinson is a prominent plein air artist known for his breathtaking paintings of the New Mexico landscape. With a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts, Stinson has established himself as a skilled and accomplished artist. His journey has taken him across continents, honing his craft and gaining recognition in various countries. After completing his graduate studies, Stinson taught at the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn before embarking on a transformative trip to Europe. During his visit to Spain, his talent caught the attention of the renowned realist painter Antonio Lopez, who selected Stinson to study in Santander. This opportunity to learn from a master further enriched his artistic perspective and technique.

Throughout his career, Stinson has participated in numerous exhibitions and residencies, showcasing his works in esteemed galleries and institutions. His paintings have found their way into private collections in Spain, Portugal, Germany, and the United States. One of the significant highlights of his career includes being named Artist in Residence at the University of Dallas International Artist Residency program CentralTrak, which allowed him to immerse himself in a stimulating and creative environment. Presently, Brian Stinson resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his wife and two daughters. His deep connection to the landscape of this region serves as a constant source of inspiration for his plein air paintings. Stinson's works beautifully capture the essence of the New Mexico scenery, portraying the interplay of light and shadow, the vibrant colors of the desert, and the mesmerizing landscapes that have captivated artists for generations.
 
The diversity of Stinson's exhibitions over the years showcases his versatility and dedication to his craft. From his early years, participating in national juried drawing exhibits like the one at Wiford Art Gallery in Santa Fe to his more recent exhibitions at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and the Central Track Residency Artists Exhibition in Dallas, Texas, Stinson's career trajectory has been one of consistent growth and recognition. Notably, Stinson has been involved in teaching and nurturing young artists, passing on his knowledge and passion for art.
 
As an adjunct faculty member at various institutions like the University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Pratt Institute, he has played an instrumental role in shaping the next generation of artists. His dedication and talent have not gone unnoticed, earning him prestigious awards and honors throughout his career. From the Teaching Assistantship Award at UMASS Amherst to the UETF Resiliency Residency Grant in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stinson's contributions to the art world have been celebrated and rewarded. With works now in the public collections of Albuquerque and Austin, Stinson's art continues to have a lasting impact on the communities he touches.
